The Thyssen-Bornemisza museum was established in 1992 in the former 19th-century Villahermosa palace, after the Spanish state acquired Europe’s most important private art collection, that of the Thyssen-Bornemisza family.
The tastes of two generations of collectors show us the artistic movements of western art from the 13th to the 20th century, through such great masters of painting as Ghirlandaio, Caravaggio, Van Gogh, Cezanne, Hopper, Lichtenstein and Kooning.
