Description of the visit to the Prado museum and the Royal Palace
On the emblematic Paseo del Prado you will find one of the largest and most famous art galleries in the world: the Prado museum. It was built to house the headquarters of the Royal Cabinet of History and Natural Sciences and was converted into a museum at the beginning of the 19th century. It houses the best collection of Spanish paintings, great works of Flemish and Italian painting, as well as German, French and English paintings.
Once the visit to the Prado museum is over, you will discover the Royal palace of Madrid. With more than 3,000 rooms, it is the largest and one of the most imposing in Europe and remains the official residence of the King and Queen of Spain. It was built by King Carlos III in the 18th century as the seat of the Spanish monarchy on the site of the former Alcazar de los Austrias.
