Description of your private visit to the Royal Palace
The Royal Palace of Madrid, with more than 3,000 rooms, is the largest and one of the most imposing in Europe and remains the official residence of the King and Queen of Spain. It was built by King Carlos III in the eighteenth century as the seat of the Spanish monarchy on the site of the former Alcazar de los Austrias.
It preserves a magnificent collection of works of art, including splendid frescoes, exceptional paintings by Velázquez and Goya, the world unique Stradivarius Palace Collection and the watch collection.
You will start with a short walk through the Plaza de Oriente, where the Royal Theatre is located. You will also visit the remains of Madrid’s Moorish wall and the Almudena Cathedral, while the tour continues inside the Royal Palace where you can admire the sumptuous rooms where the ancient Bourbons lived. You will discover the Royal Chapel, the throne room and the private salons of King Carlos III and Queen Isabel II as well as the impressive banqueting hall.
